About

TAE Source is both an information resource and a personal journal for the Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander (TAE). I want this site to be a single source for the best available information about the TAE. In this blog, I focus on the finer points of the TAE – the stuff that isn’t obvious by looking at it and isn’t documented well (if at all) in the manuals. There are a lot of details that you don’t figure out about the TAE until you’ve used it for awhile, and I’m going to write about them and hopefully help reduce your learning curve. I’m also going to document my own journey with the TAE as I dig in and discover more about it. I’ll give you the pertinent facts of what I learn as well as my candid opinions.

As of the time of this writing (June 2020), the TAE is the most robust tool of its type available. But it’s not perfect. When I first learned about the TAE, it seemed like Boss had literally thought of everything. But once I started to use it, I realized that like every other product in the world, there are some compromises, quirks, and gaps in its features and in the way it works. So I’ll tell you about them and how to get the most out of this product. And finally, as I find more and more TAE-related information and resources on the Internet, I’ll aggregate links to all of it on this blog so it can be a hub to everything TAE.

Who Am I?

My name is David Campbell and I'm a musician, photographer, and software marketer living in Raleigh, NC. I’ve played music for close to 50 years. In that time, I've played a lot of different styles including classical, rock, prog-rock, funk, swing jazz, blues, pop, and reggae. Over the years, I’ve become proficient on guitar, piano, Hammond organ, synthesizer, and bass. I'm an avid audio geek and operate my own recording studio and love to play with audio technology and design sounds on synthesizer. I understand MIDI and digital audio at a pretty deep level.

In my day job, I'm a 30 year software and high tech veteran having worked in engineering, product management, and product marketing. I am currently Vice President of Product Marketing at a private software company in Durham, NC.
